Omega Yeast OYL-106 German Lager I

A classic workhorse for clean, crisp lagers. OYL-106 gives a lightly malty profile with subtle fruit notes and a tidy finish. It is widely regarded as the world’s most used lager strain and can still deliver convincing lager character at warmer ale-like temperatures. Plan a proper diacetyl rest.

Brewer’s tips

  • Ferment cool at 48–52°F for the cleanest profile, then raise to 60–65°F for 24–48 hours near the end for a diacetyl rest

  • Warm ferments at 65–68°F work for a quick lager-like beer with a touch more ester

  • Oxygenate well and consider a starter for higher gravity or colder ferments
